Do you have a strong urge to organize your nursery (nesting)? In my third trimester I spent many hours on Youtube and Pinterest looking at baby girl nursery ideas and organization tips.
After watching videos of Marie Kondo folding and organizing baby clothes, I sorted, washed, and folded all of the baby girl clothing and had my husband put all the furniture together and mount it the wall.
To save you time and reduce stress you here are some baby girl nursery organization and storage ideas and tips.

Nursery Furniture
Dresser
I LOVE the IKEA Hemnes Dresser! This dresser has 4 smaller drawers on top and 4 large drawers on the bottom, the surface is easy to clean. It’s narrow and long making the top a perfect place for a changing pad.
If you don’t have an IKEA nearby or want to save money you can check on Facebook marketplace, craigslist, or offer up to see if you can find a used one locally.
DIY TIP: I spray painted the knobs a metallic gold spray paint to match the pink and gold theme.
Make sure you mount all your furniture to a sturdy wall, to prevent it from tipping or falling over.

Changing Pad
I like the Summer Infant Contoured Changing Pad
- 100% waterproof material
- Easy to clean with a damp cloth or water wipe
- Contoured walls and quick release safety belt keep baby comfortably and securely on pad
- Security strap underneath keeps pad attached to furniture
- 16″ x 32″ changing pad fits most standard changing pad tables.
- Non-skid bottom.
Crib
Invest in a Convertable crib that will last for years. I got the Delta Children Canton 4-in-1 Convertible Baby Crib at my baby shower and it is still in good condition. (After 3+ years)
- Affordable
- Easy To Clean
- Convertible: Converts from a crib to a toddler bed, daybed and full-size bed with headboard & footboard (Daybed Rail and Toddler Guardrail included; Full-Size Bed Rails sold separately)
- GROWS WITH BABY: The 3 position mattress height adjustment on this crib allows you to lower the mattress as your baby begins to sit or stand
- JPMA certified to meet or exceed all safety standards set by the CPSC & ASTM | Tested for lead and other toxic elements to meet or exceed government and ASTM safety standards
Crib Mattress
Most cribs don’t come with a mattress so make sure you put one on your baby registry or order one. I recommend a hypoallergenic waterproof mattress.
Curtains
Black out curtains are a must have for any nursery to keep the room dark for naps and bedtime. I have the Cloud Island curtains they are beautiful and keep the light out.
Rocking Chair
I use to rock my baby in my arms while standing, but my back, shoulders, and arms were hurting so much. By the time I was done rocking her I felt exhausted and didn’t get anything done during her naps.
We are currently using the DaVinci Piper recliner and swivel glider. Every time we put our baby down for a nap we rock her in this comfortable rocking chair. I also comfortably nurse her in it. Now, we have more time and energy to get things done during naptime.

Custom Floral Letters
I have the Posh Peanut Fitted Crib Sheet in Dusk Rose. I love the beautiful floral print. This floral crib sheet is very soft even after washing it. Check out Posh Peanut on Amazon for beautiful matching changing pad covers, swaddles, and more.
For safe sleep make sure you purchase a crib sheet that is made of hypoallergenic breathable fabric.
Mom Hack* I suggest purchasing 2 waterproof mattress protectors and 2 crib sheets. When you put them on start with a mattress protector, then a crib sheet over that, then another mattress protector and another crib sheet. This way when your baby has a blowout in the middle of the night you just remove layers and can worry about washing the sheets the next day.
Your changing pad cover should match your crib sheet.
I highly recommend these Waterproof Changing Pad Liners. These liners are washable and made from bamboo making them eco-friendly. They will protect your changing pad cover from getting stained. You can also carry these changing pad liners around in your diaper bag or leave one in your car.
Nursery Storage and Organization
Organize your child’s room with storage bins from Target. I use these storage bins to store clothes that don’t fit her yet and clothes don’t fit her anymore.
Storage bins can also be used to store toys or as a dirty clothes hamper. They have handles making them easy to carry around the house.
I received many used baby clothes and toys from my sister in law and enjoy passing them down to my mom friends.
IKEA has drawer storage boxes that are under $6 for a pack of 6. These bins can be used in and on the dresser to divide clothing, diaper creams, first aid, etc.
I use them to separate pants, short sleeve onesies, and long sleeve onesies.
I found similar drawer storage bins on Amazon.

Miscellaneous Nursery Items
Diaper Pail
I am so glad we received the Ubbie Diaper Pail at our baby shower! It is definitely a nursery must-have!
- No need to buy special bags. I use regular trash bags. Saving time and money unlike other pails on the market.
- The Ubbi diaper pail won NINE awards proving parents and experts approval.
- Holds an average of 35 diapers.
- Steel locks in odors.
- childproof lock.
Night Light
This portable, touch activated, Night Light was made with moms in mind. I use this night light for changing diapers and breastfeeding in the middle of the night.
- 100% safe for your baby
- Easy & fun touch control: touch the top for 0. 5 seconds to enter night light mode for breastfeeding at night; tap the logo twice to set a 1-hour timer to comfort your toddler to sleep
- Convenient charging base: offers a stable way to charge and prevents toppling over mode; connect directly to the Micro-USB cable for powering out of the house
- Customizable light: rechargeable battery lasts 200 or 6 hours in dimmest or brightest settings respectively; bottom button disables touch control and boosts brightness by 30% for outdoor visibility
- Indoor & outdoor usage: built-in silicone handle and an IP65 waterproof build make for the perfect camping or hiking light; sos mode signals your or your kids’ location in case of emergency
DockATot
The Deluxe DockATot is a worthy investment but I suggest adding it to your baby registry before purchasing it.
Our baby would nap in the dock a tot in the living room so I could keep an eye on her while cleaning or watching tv. We also used it to transition her to her crib.
- For babies 0-8+ months old.
- Offers a safe and comfy spot for your baby to rest, lounge, play, cuddle, do tummy time and get diaper changes.
- Lightweight and portable, making it great for easy travel.
- Has been used by parents for safer cosleeping.
- There are a variety of beautiful designs, covers, and accessories to choose from.
Sourced from world-leading suppliers with hygienic and non-toxic properties.
